Grab your kiddos and have some fun.  Even your youngest can help with this little Reindeer Chow project.  Packaged up in baggies, it will make a special treat for neighbors and friends.  The kids can even make their own gift tags to stick on the bags using computer labels or cardstock.

When our daughter was in preschool and elementary school, we always had a little project that she could make or help make.  Several years she made pine cone bird feeders.  Then there were cookies of one sort or the other — preferably chocolate chip for her.  We made tons of Gary’s Favorite Pumpkin Bread in mini-loaves and muffins, and this Reindeer Chow.  We would package it and decorate it and load whatever it was that year into a basket or her wagon and off she would go.

From one house to the other, one street to the next, she delivered her Christmas tokens.

I still have former neighbors who recall those sweet deliveries whenever I happen to run into them around town.  I wonder if she knows how big those little packages of Christmas cheer really were.

Start a tradition in your own home.  You’re never too young, ya’ know.  Or too old.

This recipe is really flexible.  Just take out what you don’t like and add in what you do.  I’d love to know what ideas you have.
