Guest Post By Steve Shule, creator of LRFoodcasts

I’m so grateful to Debbie for the chance to tell you about my new Little Rock-based food project. It’s called the Little Rock Foodcast. and it’s the only podcast talking food, drink and culture in Little Rock.

I’ve started the Little Rock Foodcast because I love food. More specifically, I love eating at Little Rock area restaurants, tasting my favorite dishes and finding new, exciting plates to tell everyone about. I truly believe that Little Rock is in the middle of a culinary revival right now. Thrilling new restaurants, bakeries, coffee shops and specialty food stores are popping up in our city at an unprecedented pace, helping to shape the food landscape in central Arkansas. Today, we have more access to finely crafted cuisine right here at home than we ever have had before.

I want to do what I can to keep that going. Local restaurants need loyal customers and new patrons to stay alive. The vast majority of restaurants in this country fail within six months, and most of them can’t afford the massive marketing campaigns that raise public awareness and support. With such a razor-thin margin of error, every extra customer and every extra positive review can have a huge impact.

This, I hope, is where the Little Rock Foodcast comes in. I will be interviewing chefs, restaurant owners, writers, bloggers and foodies and posting our conversations on a free podcast. You’ll get to hear the stories behind your favorite restaurants and hopefully discover some new places you haven’t heard about. You’ll get an introduction to some of the best and brightest minds impacting our culinary scene today. And, hopefully, you’ll gain a new appreciation and passion for the Little Rock food scene. We have something truly special happening in our city right now. Let’s all do what we can to keep it going.

The Little Rock Foodcast launches on Monday, January 27 with five podcasts in five days. I will also keep a regularly updated blog and an active Facebook page and Twitter account. In addition, the website has a “Top Fives” section, where a dozen Arkansas foodies contributed to select the finest restaurants Little Rock has to offer. Thank you all for checking out the Little Rock Foodcast and, more importantly, thank you for supporting our local chefs and eateries.
