Sometimes you just burst with pride when something really good happens in your hometown. When the citizens of Benton passed a recent “quality of life” tax to fund the new Riverside Park, I must admit I was somewhat surprised.
Generally, we don’t like taxes, do we?
But this one was different. It was a promise to offer a quality recreational facility that would be convenient and affordable to all in the area. I believe it far exceeded it’s original promise.
Benton’s official Grand Opening of the Riverside Park complex was April 1. Unfortunately, I had prior obligations and could not attend, but I was able to preview the facility on a couple of occasions for an article I prepared for First Security Banks OnlyinArk web site. For that story and a tour of this gorgeous facility which also includes the new Senior Wellness Center and the new Boys and Girls Club, go HERE.
I’ve already picked up my membership card and can’t wait to visit on a regular basis.
