kate and connor

Just like some of you, I get too busy during the holidays. Even though I vow EVERY. SINGLE. YEAR not to let that happen again, it does and it takes me days to recover, regroup and review.  Can you relate?

This week I’ve had the opportunity to spend some real quality time with my grandchildren without all of that holiday hustle and bustle.  It was “let’s get down in the floor” playtime.  You know that kind of time when you just say to yourself, “Everything else can wait” and you really mean it?  When just one more game of Uno or Candyland is the most important item on your agenda?  Or when sipping a cup of pretend tea and nibbling pretend chocolate chip cookies sounds like the perfect meal?  Or when you get the “job” of babysitting  Emily, Annabelle, Cooper and Kate, the  doll family, while their “mother” takes little brother to the doctor’s office?

Or when you get to share stories of “when I was your age” and they really listen?  And it makes you smile.  And thankful.

Yeah, that kind of time.  And I’d trade every bead and bangle on the Christmas tree, every bow-adorned package, every holiday party for more gifts of their time.

Would you?
