Today’s challenge for BLOGtober Fest Day 2 is Halloween Memories.  Unlike Martha Stewart, I don’t really “get in to” Halloween so much anymore.  I do LOVE fall, however, and really enjoy decorating for the season.

When Perfect Daughter was growing up, Halloween was, of course, a celebrated event.  I made most of her Halloween costumes both out  necessity and t he desire to be skilled in all things crafty.  (I grew out of most of that. You have probably noticed that already

I still have many of the decorations that we used, but I seldom get those out anymore.  I should probably pass those on to someone, huh? Minivan Momma Heather is having a garage sale.  Hmm,  (Go read her Blogtober Fest Day 1 post.  Hubby and I REALLY laughed.)

She wore this clown costume any time I would let her.  She always thought it meant that candy was in her future.  Smart girl.  Takes after her momma.

By the next Halloween, two-year old Raggedy Anne wised up and got a bigger pumpkin.  That wig was also homemade, by the way.  Wonder what happened to my crafty sewing skills?

When you’re three you can be a Halloween Bunny if you want.  Plus, you get to exchange that scary plastic pumpkin for a pretty Halloween (aka Easter) basket with a fancy pink bow.

At age 5, Perfect Daughter decided that being a witch was the only way to go.  (She may have taken after me with her witchiness as well.)  I loved this costume because she got three years of wear from it.  The last time was around third grade when OUR house became the neighborhood spook house.  (Another story for another time.)
She did make the cutest witch ever, don’t cha’ think?

This was the year we actually tried to grow our own Jack-o-Lantern.  We tried.  We really did.  Ultimately, it was off to the local pumpkin patch in farmer overalls.  In 1979, Perfect Daughter decided that being a pumpkin farmer was still a good idea.

At seven, she decided to make her own costume.  Such a spooky ghost she was!  Under some protest, she allowed me to add the bows so that everyone would at least know she was a girly witch.  Her BFF, Robert, went all out on the hobo costume.  Yep.  He came up with his own costume as well.   They made their mommas so proud.
Over the years she was  Jill of  Jack n’ Jill, a seriously festive and sparkly clown, an Army guy (not gal mind you),  the inevitable 50’s poodle skirt girl, and a FRIED EGG!  The egg was a HUGE hit and was worn by various people until it became too scrambled to wear.

Somewhere along the way she became more interested in being the spook at the front door handing out the goodies than being a spook herself.
Then there were the Halloweens when Perfect Girl became the Perfect Momma to these precious Perfect Spooks.
