Thanks for dropping by; I’m excited to finally be in my new home.  There’s still some unpacking, some straightening and even some rearranging, but for now I’m going to just sit back and enjoy a cup of this.

Pumpkin Spice Latte

Pumpkin Spice Latte

I’m not even going to apologize for yet another pumpkin-based recipe.  Every year it seems that I never share all that I want of pumpkin ideas before I stop because I just know I’ve worn everyone out with them.  I hope that’s not the case with you because you really must give this latte a try before smashing my face with a pumpkin pie — which might not be a bad deal after all.

Pumpkin, of course, signals autumn in Arkansas.  I’ve spent several days the northwest and southeast as well as the central areas.  Traveling in those areas just makes me smile because they are all drop-dead gorgeous, each with its own autumnal beauty..  But I will have to say, that nothing compares to the amazing color palette that occurs in northwest Arkansas almost every year. This year it has been exceptionally beautiful, even with the storms that moved through this week.

To prove my point, here are a couple of shots from today as I sat on the deck at the lake sipping a warm cup of this pumpkin spice latte:

Ingredients
  1. 3 tablespoons canned pumpkin
  2. 2 tablespoons caramel or hazelnut syrup (I prefer these over vanilla.)
  3. 1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  4. 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
  5. 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  6. 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  7. 1/2 cup half and half
  8. 1/2 cup milk
  9. 3 ounces espresso or 1/2 cup strong pumpkin spice coffee
Instructions
  1. In a small saucepan, stir pumpkin puree into the half and half and milk. Add the flavored syrup of your choice and the spices. Heat gently until quite warm, stirring frequently. Pour the mixture into a blender (or use an immersion blender) and pulse with the espresso until frothy.
  2. Pour into serving cup and top with whipped cream. Garnish with additional pumpkin pie spice or turbinado sugar.
